Astrid Lindgrens pappa Samuel August flyttade redan som barn från grannbyn Hamphorva hit till Sevedstorp. Han växte upp i Mellangården och här bodde familjen Eriksson fram till den 30 april 1895, då flyttlasset, draget av oxar, gick till arrendebostaden på Näs. Det är i huvudsak sin egen barndom på Näs som Astrid beskriver i sagorna om Barnen i Bullerbyn, men den fysiska plats som stod modell för berättelserna är den här platsen.
Olle Hellboms tv-serie från 1960-talet, som också redigerades till film, är inspelad i Veda på Väddö. När det däremot blev dags för nyinspelning 1986 begav sig Svensk Filmindustri med regissören Lasse Hallström i spetsen hit till Sevedstorp och den "riktiga" Bullerbyn. Den idylliska byn stod i princip redo för filminspelning. Ett plåttak ersattes med sticketak, en flaggstång monterades och i februari kunde inspelningen starta.
Under knappt ett år skulle samtliga scener till två långfilmer spelas in. Den första filmen skulle ha premiär i december och ganska snart förstod man att tiden skulle bli knapp. För att effektivisera inspelningsarbetet åkte filmteamet till Pelarne skola – och hittade sex stand-in-barn i klassen med barn födda 1977. Barnen var förvånansvärt lika barnskådespelarna och på filmen kan ingen se att det inte är samma barn överallt. Eller att en av flickorna, i vissa scener, egentligen är en pojke med peruk. Med dubbla uppsättningar barn kunde inspelningar ske på två täter. Barnen från Pelarne gjorde scenerna på långt håll, men också de praktiska momenten. Smålänningarna behövde inga instruktioner för att exempelvis fiska eller tälja barkbåtar.
Catti Edfelt, som redan som barn gjort en berättarröst i Hellboms tv-serie om Bullerbybarnen, var regiassistent och spelade också rollen som Sörgårds-Elin.
Kenneth Roth från Pelarne ingick i filmteamet och hade bland annat uppdraget att hitta lokala inspelningsplatser. Endast utomhusscener spelades in i Bullerbyn. Inomhusscenerna från Norrgården, Mellangården och Sörgården är filmade i studio i Stockholm. Skolscenerna gjordes i Tveta skola i Hultsfreds kommun, och då var hela klassen från Pelarne skola med på inspelningen. Scenerna i skomakarstugan, både interört och exteriört är filmade på Kulla gård.
Kräftorna fiskades i Mossjön och placerades sedan i Rostorpsjön för tagning. Metar gör Bullerbybarnen vid Gustavsvik i Mossjön – på exakt samma plats som Emil och Alfred badar i Emilfilmen!
Astrid Lindgren var ofta med under inspelningarna. Sittandes under ett solparasoll följde hon arbetet. Hon pratade mycket med Lasse Hallström men hade också tid för alla barnen som gärna satt i hennes knä.
Hunden Svipp spelades av en hund som hette Acke. Han trodde alltid att man sa "sitt" när man sa Svipp och satte sig ner i stället för att komma. Efter halva inspelningen tog filmteamet in en annan hund som med hjälp av skokräm blev identisk med Acke. De båda hundarna var helt olika i lynnet och därför användes den ena till de aggressiva scenerna och den andra till de mer tillgivna.
Hästarna kom från Södra Vi, fåren hämtades i Oskarshamn och korna kom från grannbyn Skorparp. Rekvisitan hämtades från vindar och ladugårdar i trakten.
Hela filmteamet bodde på Fredensborgs Herrgård, förutom Lasse Hallström som hyrde ett hus i Pelarne. De sista scenerna spelades in på hösten men strax innan premiären gjordes en komplettering i Sevedstorp. Den första snön skulle falla och i brist på naturligt snöfall användes hönsfjädrar och ull som blåstes upp.
Tre äldre män bodde i de tre husen på 1980-talet. Det var inte alla av dem som hoppade högt av glädje när deras by skulle förvandlas till inspelningsplats.
– Efter tre dagar var den som var mest negativ först på plats vid inspelningsplatsen. Och när vi var klara vet jag att de saknade de oss, berättar Kenneth Roth.
Mehr über Bullerbü - Sevedstorp
Astrid Lindgrens Vater Samuel August zog schon als kleines Kind vom Nachbardorf Hamphorva nach Sevedstorp. Er wuchs im Mittelhof auf und hier wohnte die Familie Eriksson bis zum 30. April 1895, als der Umzugswagen, gezogen von Ochsen zum Pachthof nach Näs fuhr. Es ist hauptsächlich ihre eigene Kindheit in Näs, die Astrid in den Geschichten der Kinder von Bullerbü beschreibt, aber der reale Platz, der für die Erzählungen Modell stand, ist dieser hier.
Olle Hellboms Fernsehserie aus den 1960er Jahren, die auch als Film bearbeitet wurde, ist in Veda auf der Insel Vaddö gedreht worden. Als es aber 1986 Zeit für eine Neuverfilmung wurde, begab sich SF (Schwedische Filmindustrie) mit dem Regisseur Lasse Hallström an der Spitze hierher nach Sevedstorp und dem richtigen "Bullerbü". Das idyllische Dorf war im Prinzip bereit für Dreharbeiten. Ein Blechdach wurde mit Holzschindeln ersetzt, ein Fahnenmast wurde abgebaut und im Februar konnten die Dreharbeiten beginnen.
Während eines Jahres sollten sämtliche Szenen für zwei Spielfilme gedreht werden. Der erste Film sollte im Dezember Premiere haben und sehr schnell verstand man, dass die Zeit dafür knapp werden würde. Um die Dreharbeiten zu beschleunigen, fuhr das Filmteam zur Schule nach Pelarne und fand dort sechs Double in der Klasse mit Kindern, die 1977 geboren waren. Die Ähnlichkeit mit den Kinderschauspielern war verblüffend und in den Filmen kann niemand sehen, daß es nicht überall, die gleichen Kinder sind. Oder, dass eines der Mädchen, in gewissen Szenen eigentlich ein Junge mit Perücke ist. Mit der doppelten Besetzung Kinder konnten die Dreharbeiten gleichzeitig geschehen. Mit den Kindern aus Pelarne drehte man die entfernteren Szenen, aber auch die praktischen Momente. Smaländischen Kinder brauchte man z.B. nicht erklären, wie man fischt oder ein Rindenboot schnitzt.
Catti Edfelt, die schon als Kind eine Kinderstimme in Hellboms TV-Serie von den Bullerbü-Kindern gesprochen hatte, war Regieassistent und spielte auch die Rolle der Mutter vom Südhof.
Kenneth Roth aus Pelarne, der zum Filmteam gehörte, hatte u.a. den Auftrag örtliche Drehplätze zu finden. Nur die Außenhausszenen wurden in Bullebü gedreht. Die Innenhausszenen vom Nordhof, Südhof und Mittelhof sind im Studio in Stockholm gedreht worden. Die Schulszenen drehte man in der Schule in Tveta in der Hultsfred Kommune, und dort war die gesamte Klasse der Pelarne Schule bei den Dreharbeiten dabei. Die Innen- und Außenszenen der Hütte des Schuhmachers sind in Kulla gård gedreht worden.
Die Krebse fing man im Mossjön und setzte sie dann für die Aufnahme im Rostorpsjön wieder aus. Die Bullerbü-Kinder angelten im Gustavsvik im Mossjön - an genau der gleichen Stelle, an der Michel und Alfred im Michelfilm baden!
Astrid Lindgren war oft während der Filmarbeiten vor Ort. Sitzend unter einem Sonnenschirm folgte sie der Arbeit. Sie sprach viel mit Lasse Hallström, hatte aber auch Zeit für alle Kinder, die gern auf ihrem Schoß saßen.
Der Hund Svipp wurde von einem Hund namens Acke gespielt. Er glaubte immer, dass man "Sitz" sagte, wenn man "Svipp" rief um ihn heranzurufen und setzte sich. Nach der Hälfte der Drehzeit wählte das Filmteam einen anderen Hund, der mit Hilfe von Schuhcreme mit Acke identisch gemacht wurde. Beide Hunde hatten sehr unterschiedliches Temperament und deshalb wurde der eine für die aggressiven und der andere für die mehr liebevollen Szenen eingesetzt.
Die Pferde waren aus Södra Vi, die Schafe wurden aus Oskarshamn geholt und die Kühe kamen aus dem Nachbardorf Skorparp. Die Requisiten wurden von Dachböden und Scheunen der Umgebung geholt.
Das gesamte Filmteam, wohnte in Fredensborg Herrgård, außer Lasse Hellström, der sich ein Haus in Pelarne mietete. Die letzten Szenen wurden im Herbst gedreht, aber kurz vor der Premiere filmte man eine Ergänzung in Sevedstorp. Der erste Schnee sollte fallen und in Ermangelung von natürlichem Schnee, verwendete man Hühnerfedern und Wolle, die man nach oben blies.
In den 1980er Jahren wohnten drei ältere Männer in den drei Häusern. Nicht alle jubelten vor Freude, dass ihr Dorf in einen Drehort verwandelt werfen sollte. "Nach drei Drehtagen war der Negativste der Erste, der am Drehort auftauchte. Und als wir fertig waren, da vermissten sie uns." berichtet Kenneth Roth.

Astrid Lindgren’s dad, Samuel August moved at an early age from the neighbouring village of Hamphorva to Sevedstorp. He grew up on the middle property and this is where the Eriksson family lived up until 30 April 1985, when all their household goods, pulled by oxen, were shifted to the leasehold dwelling at Näs. Basically, it is her own childhood at Näs that Astrid is depicting in the fictional stories about the Bullerby children, but this is the physical location on which she modelled Bullerby.
Olle Hellbom’s TV-series from the 1960s, which was also made into a film, was shot in Veda on the island of Väddö. But when it was time for the new version in 1986, the Swedish Film Industry, with director Lasse Hallström at the helm, came and filmed it here in Sevedstorp – the “real” Bullerby. The idyllic village was essentially ready for the film. One metal roof was replaced with one of wooden shingles, a flagpole was mounted and in February the cameras could begin to roll.
In less than a year all the scenes for two full-length movies were to be filmed. The first of these was to be released in December and fairly soon it became obvious that time was short. For the sake of effectiveness the film crew went to the Pelarne school, where they found six stand-in children in the class of children born in 1977. The children bore a striking resemblance to the child actors and in the films no one can detect that it is not the same children everywhere – or that one of the girls, in certain scenes, is actually a boy wearing a wig. Having two sets of children made it possible to have two different shoots going on at once. The children from Pelarne made the scenes that were shot at a distance as well as the practical content. These Småland locals needed no instructions when it came to fishing or carving bark boats.
Catti Edfelt, who as a child had already been one of the story-telling voices in Hellbom’s TV-series about the Bullerby children, was production assistant, and she also played the part of Sörgårds-Elin.
One of the film crew members was Kenneth Roth from Pelarne, whose work included finding local filming locations. Only the outdoor scenes were shot in Bullerby. The indoor scenes from the North Farm, the Middle Farm and the South Farm were done in a studio in Stockholm. The school scenes were filmed in the Tveta school in the Municipality of Hultsfred, where the entire class from the Pelarne school participated. The scenes from the shoemakers’ hut, both interior and exterior, were filmed at the Kulla property.
The crayfish were caught in Lake Mossjön before they were placed in the Rostorp Lake for the takes. When the Bullerby children are angling for fish, they do it at Gustavsvik in Mossjön – at exactly the same spot where Emil and Alfred are swimming in the Emil film!
Astrid Lindgren was often present during the filming. She followed the work, sitting under a parasol. She talked a lot with Lasse Hallström, but she also had time for all the children, who were only too happy to sit on her lap.
The dog, Svipp was played by a dog called Acke. He always thought you said “sit” when you said Svipp and would sit down instead of coming to you. Halfway through the filming the crew brought in another dog, who with a little bit of help from a shoe polish tube became identical with Acke. The two dogs had totally different temperaments, so one of them was used for the aggressive scenes and the other for the more friendly parts.
The horses came from Södra Vi, the sheep were brought from Oskarshamn and the cows from the neighbouring village of Skorparp. The props were found in attics and barns in the surrounding area.
The whole film crew stayed at the Fredensborg Herrgård, except for Lasse Hallström who rented a house in Pelarne. The final scenes were filmed in the autumn but just prior to the premiere some additional work was done in Sevedstorp. The first snow was supposed to fall and due to the lack of natural snow they used chicken feathers and wool, blown into the air.
Three elderly men lived in the three houses in the 1980s. Not all of them were jumping for joy at the thought of having their village turn into a film set.
“After three days, the one who had been the most negative was first on deck for the shoot. And when we had finished I know they missed us”, says Kenneth Roth.
